When people change positions, whether they remain in the same organization or find a new one, their environments change.  We are not referring to just their physical environment, though that has a huge impact.  Their network of people, from clients to peers to bosses, change.  Their business environment changes.  They need new skills, or skills at a different level, often much higher.
